When I edit my photos from weddings, I always make sure to include a variety for the bride and groom when they receive their package from me. (See more on how I deliver my photos right here!) That usually includes a good number of black and white photos for them.
Here's 7 reasons you should make sure to ask your wedding photographer for black and white photos from your big day:
1. Wedding clothes are made for black and white photography.
Seriously - white dresses, black suits. When you wear normal colors, you end up with a lot of gray tones. Not with wedding photos! The clothes become a striking piece of the photo.
2. It simplifies the moment.
In color, this photo would have a lot going on - colors from clothing, flowers, table settings, the room. When you simplify it to black and white, it simplifies the moment you're capturing.
3. It is stunning.
I want to make a wallpaper out of this photo, I love it so much. The black car and sharp angles are highlighted and a stark contrast to the bride's white veil billowing carelessly in the wind. Absolutely stunning.
4. It's classic.
Depending how on-trend you tend to go, you could be looking back at your wedding photos in 10 years and hate all the colors. Black and white photography captures the moment and instantly makes the photo timeless.
6. It captures the emotion.
I love this photo of the father looking at his daughter he's about to give away...and the daughter looking out at her wedding guests. I saw that in the photo, but when I edited it into black and white...those emotions popped even more.
7. It's fun!
If you have a few favorites, I bet you could ask your photographer to edit them into black and white for you. They're fun and some of my favorite photos from weddings.
