These photos were taken just a few weeks ago, and let me tell you what a HUGE relief it was to have these new photos.
Again, you know it's the same girl from the other two headshots, but THIS girl, it's a totally different vibe.
Sassy AF, knows she a badass photographer, confident and comfortable in her own skin and personality for days...
This is the gal who is the face of my business. This is the girl the world sees when they are thinking of hiring me as their photographer. This is the girl who shows up for wardrobe consults and sessions and studio tours. This is the girl who brings her camera and her a-game.
Is she like this all the time, no. Because, let's be real, I have my days. Even as I am writing this, I'm sitting at my desk at nearly 11 pm on a Thursday because I can't sleep in a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers and most of the days makeup rubbed off.
But if you think about people like celebrities and public officials - they aren't like their public images all the time either. However, you still have this picture in your head of who they are and what they stand for based off of what they show you and that's the version of themselves they sell. With their image, they tell you what they want you to know about them. The same goes for your image of your business - there is no difference.
Now - you may be thinking that it's dishonest to choose the face that people get to see, but It's all part of making sure you are serving the right clients. And it's not just for you, it's for them, too.
For example: I LOVE animals. I do! I love them. I have a dog, three cats and a turtle and I still go crazy over my friends and families pets, especially if it's a puppy. I LOVE puppies. So, that's a big part of who I am. I'm an animal lover, but I don't photograph animals. I don't want to. It would stress me out and the results would probably be, frankly, AWFUL. So, I don't do it. Which also means, I don't have anything in or on my site or my personal brand that would make someone think - "Oh! She would be the perfect person to do portraits of my puppy!"
So that in mind, take a look at the types of images I am currently shooting. You'll see it's not very many weddings and it's not a ton of families or kids either - it's nearly 100% boudoir and off-beat and/or creative professionals. And most all of them are women.
Does the girl in the pictures above not look like she is the perfect person for that job?
See how the image portrayed in the business portraits of me above, fit perfectly with the images I'm currently providing for my clients? And doesn't it seem like the clients in the pictures and I could probably get together and drink wine together on the weekends?
And it took minutes of reading and several hundreds of words to say what one well composed photo grid said in just a few second and with no written words.
