When clients contact me for newborn photos I'm always a little leery because newborn photography isn't my specialty. At least not the kind where you put the babies in a bucket or prop them up on top of things like guitars and such. (I know some phenomenal photographers who do that and I totally respect them.)
However - when a client contacts me and says they are thinking about doing a session in their home - I'm get really excited!
For me - in-home sessions, or "Lifestyle Sessions" as they are called, feed back into the roots of how I started in photography - as a photojournalist. I used my camera to tell stories. And lifestyle sessions are just that - your story in photos.
I originally met J (mom) when we both attended the same gym in my town. We hit it off and have been good friends ever since. At the time she was engaged and planning a wedding. I was so excited for her because I knew that her fiance', K, was a pretty awesome guy.
Well they tied the knot and not long after they announced their Honeymoon baby! I was thrilled! And of course, even more so when J contacted me to shoot their maternity and newborn photos.
I got to be there to capture it - from shooting her maternity session at their home in Henderson, TX and then returning to photograph their brand new baby boy in the house they brought him home to.
